​About the Role

The Director of Business Evolution is a key leadership position responsible to provide expert advice on organizational processes and work collaboratively across the organization to ensure that processes and practices support the development, evolution and implementation of the organization’s strategy. Reporting to the VP Service Excellence, a strategic leader with strong business acumen and internal relationships, the Director, Business Evolution, develops strategies that drive continuous improvement while leveraging investments in technology that support achievement of the organizations key performance targets. 

 

The Director proactively monitors evolution of best practice and relevant emerging trends in Return to Work and service excellence, and is responsible for on-going planning, development, implementation, auditing, and reviewing services to understand and develop strategic insights and recommendations to advance return to work and service delivery outcomes.  The role prioritizes activities by engaging with leaders across the organization to ensure alignment with overall plans and strategies.

 

This position includes direct supervision for two management employees, and the indirect supervision of ~ 30 union and non-union employees.

 

Occasional travel is a requirement of this position.

 

Employees at this level are responsible for  demonstrating leadership in providing a physical and psychologically safe and healthy workplace by providing opportunity for JOHSC involvement for all employees; instructing employees to follow safe work practices; enforcing health and safety regulations; correcting unsafe acts and unsafe conditions; ensuring only authorized, adequately trained persons operate equipment; reporting and investigating all accidents/incidents; ensuring equipment is properly maintained; conducting regular workplace inspections and taking remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards.  We are a “scent reduced” working environment. Your Experience & Skills

Leadership and Management

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and operational management
  • Skilled in facilitating change at team and organizational levels, including collaboration with leadership key partners inside and outside the organization.
  • Develops and drives change management plans that encompass communication, training, and partner engagement to drive consensus and minimize resistance to change.

 

Program Development

  • Visionary and strategic thinking with the ability to translate into tactical deliverables.
  • A big-picture view to develop a long-term vision and roadmap and able to translate the vision into operational plans and action while able to execute on a day to day operational level as required. 

 

Innovation, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills, Continuous Improvement

  • Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges in service delivery.
  • Effective in balancing the priorities of present needs and future goals and driving short-term, tactical actions that support long-term strategies.
  • Establishes feedback mechanisms to collect insights from employees and partners on the impact of change initiatives and uses this information to continuously improve change management processes.
  • This role also has an in-depth understanding of the operational environment and can identify opportunities to support continuous development and improvement.  
  • Champions innovation in service delivery. 

 

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Drive timely and transparent communication to keep senior management informed on opportunities and risks.
  • Excellent in influencing and building collaborative working relationships, presentation/ facilitation and people management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse key partners.
  • Skilled in building collaborative relationships that span functional and organizational lines and a multitude of external disciplines and effectively communicate to multi-level audiences is necessary. 

 

Program Development and Implementation

  • Experience in developing and implementing programs and practices.  

 

Qualifications

  • A University degree in Business, Social Sciences, a health discipline, or a related field. A master’s degree in any of these fields is an asset. 
  • A minimum of ten (10) years progressive leadership experience in a relevant field with at least seven (7) years in progressive leadership/management roles. 
  • Experience in building inter and cross departmental partnerships, negotiation, project management, strategic leadership, and leading teams are essential for this position.   

 

Certifications

  • Relevant professional certifications in continuous improvement, lean or six sigma are an asset.  
  • Experience in Disability Management is considered an asset.
