About the Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia

About the Role
The WCB Nova Scotia is seeking one (1) student to support day-to-day operations of our building facilities. The term runs from May 4, 2026, to August 28, 2026, for a period of 17 weeks. Our Student Employment Programs aim to provide students with valuable work experience that contributes to their education and helps them gain work experience. The Facilities student will work with the Corporate Operational Resources (CORe) team to provide support in various facilities related areas that touch every aspect of the business operations.
Role specific duties can include:
• Oversee meeting room bookings, setup, cleanliness, technology readiness, and space utilization to ensure an excellent employee experience.
• Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and maintenance of office supplies, furniture, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies and support emergency preparedness.
• Participate in JOHSC.
• Maintain accurate records, contracts, policies, invoices, and reports related to room usage, vendors, CORe standards, WCB requirements, and other administrative needs.
• Provide cross‑functional support to the CORe team on an as‑needed basis, including supporting the work of printing and postal services.
Your Experience & Skills
- Have or be completing the first year of a post-secondary program and will be enrolled in a post-secondary program throughout the summer term (May 4, 2026 – August 28, 2026). Successful students will be asked to provide documentation confirming their enrollment before the first day.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess strong keyboarding skills and be familiar with the use of various computer software/applications and other office technology.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Have a natural ability to build and maintain strong relationships and enjoy interacting with others daily, as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate time management and organizational skills.
