About the Role
The WCB Business Partner serves as the key contact for the System Impact Employers across the province, and is instrumental in developing the WCB’s profile with customers. Stopping short of acting as an advocate, the Business Partner guides the workplace through the workers’ compensation system as a trusted advisor all the time ensuring a clear understanding of the strategic importance of workplace safety and the importance of safe and timely return to work. The Business Partner will share specific workplace knowledge within the WCB in order to provide the required service to meet the needs of the workplace. The Business Partner will have to effect behavioral change in the workplace with respect to Return To Work and Prevention to achieve targeted strategic outcomes.
Position Accountabilities:
• Assess, co-ordinate and act as a system guide to meet the needs of the workplace, while ensuring compliance with the Workers’ Compensation Act.
• Address procedural questions and concerns of the System Impact Employers, triage specific claims/account/rate/ prevention questions to appropriate person(s) to ensure best outcomes.
• Ability to identify, address and eliminate barriers internally by working collaboratively within the WCB, as well as externally at the workplace to achieve specific outcomes that support the organizational goals.
• Accountable for reporting workplace concerns/complaints regarding service delivery and performance directly to the operational manager and when appropriate the team to ensure that service excellence and continuous improvement is being achieved.
• Accountable to workplace to ensure that agreed to joint improvement expectations are being achieved.
• Market/promote products and services supporting WCB initiatives.
• Deliver high level education, such as new account orientation and the business case for safety based on engagement strategy. Assist and advise employers on the operation and maintenance of their accounts with the WCB – i.e. compliance with reporting of injuries, payroll, sub contractor information, etc.
• Building a relationship with appropriate safety associations or industry associations to drive outcomes for the sector.
• Ability to identify requirements to involve other departments or individuals from the WCB to service workplace.
• Ability to co-ordinate/direct service need of the workplace with system partners and our partners in workplace safety such as OH&S.
Your Experience & Skills
A university degree
AND
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in customer/account management and/or disability case management and/or return to work and/or occupational health and safety is required with a minimum of 4 years’ experience working at a senior responsibility level.
OR
- Grade 12 PLUS evidence of continued educational development in applicable certificate or diploma level program from a post-secondary institution.
AND
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in customer/account management and/or disability case management and/or return to work and/or occupational health and safety is required with a minimum of 4 years’ experience working at a senior responsibility level.
AND
a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and be willing to use his/her vehicle on a continuous basis in order to carry out the duties of this job. The WCB pays a mileage allowance for the incumbent’s use of the vehicle.
