​About the Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Service Excellence, the Product Owner, Guidewire is responsible for staying current with the evolution of related systems and service strategies and works collaboratively with partners inside and outside of the organization to enhance the customer experience. While the role relies on consultation and collaboration with internal/external partners, the Product Owner, Guidewire serves as the final decision maker on platform priorities, requirements, and business-driven enhancements, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and desired outcomes.

 

The Product Owner, Guidewire identifies opportunities to leverage systems and processes to support service delivery and drive continuous improvement, evolution, and innovation to achieve organizational and service objectives. This role is the focal point for all enhancements to service delivery, system/service enhancements, system defects, and other projects that may have legislative, regulatory, or other mandated impacts.  This includes leading and driving continuous learning in technical areas and participates in new demand scoping and triages demand by prioritizing and approving incoming requests in consideration of rationale, benefits and timing, and overall business impact and alignment with the vision/strategy.

 

The Product Owner, Guidewire is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering enhancements and capabilities across the organization's Guidewire platform. This role represents the business perspective and works closely with the Manager, Guidewire and delivery team to ensure that defects, enhancements, and platform upgrades are prioritized and aligned to business value. As the primary business authority for the platform, the Product Owner, Guidewire is accountable for prioritization decisions and has final decision-making responsibility regarding the product backlog, enhancements, and business requirements.

 

The role drives prioritization and decision-making for Guidewire Cloud platform and associated products and services, including Injured Worker and Employer Portals, LifeMark, SmartComm, ProNavigator, ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ContactManager.

 

The Product Owner, Guidewire will play a critical role in bridging business needs and technology delivery, ensuring the platform evolves to support operational efficiency, customer experience, and strategic goals. They will also act as the Project Sponsor of major initiatives related to the Guidewire Cloud Environment. 

 

Employees have access to sensitive and/or confidential information provided by the Canada Revenue Agency for the purpose of carrying out the duties of this position.  Therefore, a satisfactory security check is a requirement for this role. A security check consists of a confidential criminal record check conducted through the HR department.  Renewal of the security check is required every ten years.  An offer of employment is conditional upon obtaining a satisfactory security check.

 

Positions at this level are distinguished from others in the Work Group at this level that covers a broad range of support services requiring incumbents to work with a minimal amount of supervision, balancing a broad range of concurrent demands.

Your Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Technology and/or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Guidewire, business product manager, business analyst or claims leadership role
  • Strong understanding of insurance operations, particularly claims (policy and billing knowledge preferred)
  • Experience working with Guidewire platforms (ClaimCenter preferred) 
  • Proven experience in Agile delivery environments 
  • Strong ability to translate business needs into actionable requirements
